Hot Hawaiian Nights at Hard Rock

We decided to celebrate Ty's 15th birthday early since we will not be with him on the actual day. We told him we could go out to eat anywhere he wanted. He chose Hard Rock Cafe and it was most definitely rockin' hard that night. There was a "Hot Hawaiian Nights" concert inside the restaurant and two of the local groups we really like were there- J Boog and Laga Savea. We added some of our favorite songs of theirs to our playlist so you could check them out. We couldn't talk to each other much but we had a great time and got to meet some local celebrities. Hey, Roger even got mistaken for a local celebrity.....again!
Since the first week that he started at the university people have been asking him if he was BJ Penn, the ultimate fighter. The first time we just laughed, but then after it happened over and over again we decided to google this guy and see what he looked like. There is a resemblance for sure. Whenever we see posters of BJ around town Isabelle says 'There's Papa!'. I will have to post a side by side for you to see.

J Boog and the family

After I took the picture of everyone with J Boog (who I really like), I complained to Roger that I am never in any of the good pictures because I am always the one taking them. He must have felt bad because he then took the camera and snapped away as I meet the lead singer of Laga Savea (above) and Akebono (below).

For those of you that don't follow sumo wrestling....like myself: Akebono became the first foreign born (he is from Hawai'i) wrestler ever to reach Yokozuna, the highest rank in sumo and during his 13 years of sumo wrestling, won the Emporer's Cup a total of 11 times.

He was a really nice guy....BIG guy.
