Aloha everyone; it's Roger. Jill thought I should do a post to let everyone know how I was doing and my thoughts on living in Hawaii so far. First, I'd like to give big mahalos to everyone who sent their kind words for my birthday; it was really appreciated.
So Jill kept asking me what I wanted to do for my big 40th and I kept telling her: "What more can I ask for? I'm living in Hawaii!" So yes, to answer the big question, we do like living here. And it's not really because of the beaches or sunsets; it's more the people and friends we have met so far. Everyone here has that friendly Aloha style of always wanting to help and passing on to others. Is it because everyone here is a minority and knows they have to live together on this island? Maybe. But it never ceases to amaze me how friendly everyone here is. When we first moved in, a complete stranger helped us carry a 200 pound piece of furniture up a flight of stairs to our place!
Second question I always get asked: how pricey is it to live in Hawaii? I'll let the pictures speak for themselves: Gas on 7/12/2008. I hear on the outer islands gas is over $5

Price for a gallon of milk. Thank goodness we drink soy milk from Costco! But I'm just kidding with this picture. Right next to this brand was another one that was on sale two gallons for $10.
